Oakley Family

The Oakley Family is one of the more frequently-mentioned Glemsford names when people ask about their ancestors.

I am delighted to be able to assist those enquirers by adding this link to Ben Oakley's detailed research into the name he bears:

Ben is more than happy to help with any Oakley-related queries you may have; equally, I shall maintain references on here as and when I can, so that the maximum amount of information is available to those who need it.

Glemsford and Lancaster

I'm in the process of researching further the unexpected link between Glemsford and the matmaking industry of Lancaster.

This first came to light with the work we did about the Brown family, but it has recently become apparent that the presence of Glemsford-born people in Lancaster lasted longer, and was more widespread, than I suspected.

If anyone has any prior knowledge or suspicions about this link, I'd love to know about your ideas.

Contact me in the usual way.

Oakley and Chatters families

I've had an enquiry from someone researching these families, and particularly the marriage of Ada Clarke (nee Chatters) to Tom Oakley, both born (probably) in the late 1870s.

If anyone has any thoughts, particularly about the latter, because he seems very elusive in the Censuses, we'd love to hear from you via the "response" mechanism, or direct to my email.

Ta ever so.
