Emailing in a perverted world.

I'm sure we are all familiar with the problems of Spam, and the attempts by people like Canadian Pharmacy to peddle their pathetic products via spurious emails. I know I am not alone in regarding their efforts as as pernicious and unpleasant an intrusion into my privacy as any CCTV image. It is fiendishly difficult to stop them.

Trying to run a simple little site like this creates all sorts of problems, mainly with idiots like them.

I need to draw your attention to two particular issues.

1) I have reduced the number of email addresses associated with my website: if you need to contact me directly, admin@glemsford.org.uk is now the only one that will work.

2) I apologise if you have have received emails purporting to come from me but actually leading you back to a site belonging to said Canadian Pharmacy. I have sent them any number of offensive replies to try and stop them but, of course, they are too stupid to pay any attention.

"It's a free world, innit?"

At least I'm now getting less Spam.

Rutter family researches

Maureen (I have her email address) has contacted me about her researches.

As always, if you are interested, or can take the story further, you may contact her via me.

I have traced my RUTTER ancestors back to Joseph RUTTER b= Wickhambrook circa
1794.

He married Mary Amy HAGREEN at St. Petronilla, Whepstead in 1822.

Mary Amy's parents are James HAGREEN and Susan JACKSON.

They had the following children born in Glemsford:

Alfred in 1824
Emma Elizabeth in 1826
William in 1828
Mary Ann in 1829 (married a Thomas Edgley?)
Joseph in 1832
Sarah Anne in 1834
John Thomas in 1837
Jane in 1839?
Robert John in 1842.

If any of these names sound familiar to you I would love to hear from you.

Thank you,
Maureen

Game (and Brewster and Goody)

Mollie Game has approached me for information, contacts etc. about the family of Samuel Game (1781) who was married to Elizabeth, and had a son Thomas (1823 - 1898) who, in his turn, married Maria Brewster. Maria's mother was Hannah Goody.

Mollie has the details of the Game family on from Thomas to her husband, James, but would be particularly interested in any information, such as birth/baptismal, marriage or death/burial registrations concerning Samuel, his immediate family and forebears.

I'm fairly sure that Samuel, Elizabeth and Thomas were living in Stanstead at the time of the 1841 Census.

If anyone can help Mollie, please do the usual - leave a comment here or contact me in the first instance.

Glemsford family history enquirers may like to go to www.mortlock.info, scroll down to the ref to the 'Mortlock Encyclopedia', click on that and then download the 'Sudbury' file which includes genealogical tables relating to the Mortlocks of Glemsford and their spouses.

Rgds & good hunting,

Robert Griffiths.
