Clarkes of Glemsford (but not me, honest)

I would be very grateful for any information concerning the parents/siblings of David Clarke b. 1799 in Glemsford. He married a lady called Sarah and they had (at least) two children in Glemsford: David in 1827 and Mary Ann in 1830 before moving to Halstead, Essex.

Many thanks
Jill Duff

Berry Family

Taking you at your word that you don't mind questions and contributions, I attach an old family photograph.
This is a low res. scan of a large and very clear photograph taken in a Glemsford garden circa 1913. The gentleman standing at the left is my grandfather Mr. Charles James Berry. His daughter (my mother) is the two year old child on her uncle's lap. Sitting centre is my great-grandfather (referred to as Grandpa Berry) who's garden it is, and who I gather was a local policeman.
Does the name Berry appear as Glemsford residents at all? I would be very interested to hear.
Thank you.

Crick family

I would very much appreciate contact with anyone researching the Crick family from Glemsford (also links with Suttle & Watkinson families).

My g-g-grandfather was David Crick, the Manager of the mat making factory.

I'd also be interested to know if there are still Cricks living in Glemsford.

If anyone can help, please contact me on

Many thanks,
Lorraine
