Jarmin, Everitt families

I am looking for info on the Jarmin & Everitt families from Glemsford.

I have recently discovered this family name in our tree & notice that for many generations they lived there.

Some names are: Thomas Everitt B 1755, Elizabeth Everitt B 1784, Dorcas Jarmin b 1725, Thomas Jarmin b 1702.

Anything would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you.

My family on my dad's side were from Glemsford and were Jarmins and Everitts. If the lady researching her tree would like to get in touch with me, I can give her a lot more info - I've got back as far as the 16th century in some cases.
My granny was Elizabeth Oakley and her parents were John Oakley and Emma Ambrose.
This site is brilliant! Thank you for doing it - can't wait to come and visit Glemsford which still looks like a proper village.

Your post re the Jarmin family got my attention as I am also looking for members of the Jarmin family, particularly those of James Jarmin b1766 and Hannah Humm(?)with a son also named James(b1791) that married Sarah Ambrose.

With regard to Dorcas Jarmin though I have found some info that may be of interest to you from http://www.familysearch.org/eng/default.asp website.

Dorcas Jarmain/Jarman/Jarmin
b: 19th May 1725
Married Daniel Gridley 1747
Wickhambrook, Suffolk.
Buried:1st August 1801
Father : Thomas
Mother : Margarit Wordley.

I hope this is of use to you and any info re Jarmins much appreciated.

Richard

I have ancestors from Glemsford. My gt gt gt grandfather was William Wordley, who became an Oyster Dredger apprentice circa 1810 in East Donyland.

Other families had migrated from Glemsford to East Donyland amongst them Oakleys and Masons.

I have a Michael Everitt born c 1761 in my tree but I am not sure where he was born. His life was spent in East Donyland.

Could it be that his family originated in Glemsford?

Does anyone know what started the migration of families from Glemsford to East Donyland?

If anyone has a link from Michael Everitt to the Glemsford Everitts I would love to know

Many thanks

Graham

References to Glemsford connections with East Donyland appear in this study of Apprentices:

Thanks Steve, I have got this list of apprentices and it does indeed confirm Glemsford / East Donyland links with several families mentioned.

What I am trying to find is

a) is there any links to my East Donyland Michael Everitt b 1761 with Everitts from Glemsford.

Do you Steve have any idea on this one?

b) how and why migration took place from Glemsford to East Donyland

Thanks to a lady "cousin" who still lives in Glemsford she has supplied Wordley connections going back generations which link into surnames in East Donyland.

Everitt has a missing link if indeed there is a missing link to be found.

Regards

Graham

re Graham's post in connection to the Wordley family. It would seem that we have the same gt x 4 grandparents, as my gt x 3 grandfather was William Wordley's older brother, Isaac, b. c1777. I would love to 'chat' with you about the Wordleys. I live in Australia, so any chance of me visiting Glemsford to dig and delve into the records is pretty remote at present.
my email is wini1896@yahoo.com.au
Kind Regards, Lee-Anne
