Whitechapel in Glemsford?

A new set of pages, carrying the memories of George Boreham, born in Glemsford in 1904, is now on-line.

Among several questions, one intrigues me:
George talked about having been born in "Whitechapel", Glemsford. We know his family lived in Brook Street. Was there ever anywhere known to locals as "Whitechapel" or was George simply confusing other places where he may have lived?
